The next day it was off to Paihia (the Bay of Islands) where the girls and I had planned some really fun activities. We hopped on the Naked Bus (our lifesaver this trip!) for a bus ride a couple hours north of Auckland. We had 2 excursions planned and two free days to do what we pleased. Upon arrival we checked into our hostel, the MouseTrap! (..oh, what $23/night will get you!) and it was actually quite fun. Every hostel we have stayed at has had a different vibe and I think that is cool. From Cactus Jack's western theme in Rotorua.. to the MouseTrap's beachy vibe.. it was quite a trip.
...Jake (the hostel owner) was quite interesting, and by the way he organized his business-- he was definitely the epitome of a 'laid-back' Kiwi (minus when we forgot to clean one of our dishes on accident and he came to bang on our door b/c he saw us on the security camera--crazy)... Anyways after getting situated, we headed towards the grocery store (a 20 minute walk away...) and snapped some beautiful pics along the way.
